1972 Triumph GT6 Mk III

For sale on behalf of one of our customers, this is truly a unique opportunity to purchase a completely rebuilt, as new, Triumph GT6 Mk 111.
Over a period of a decade, the car has been subject to a no expense spared, (total being in excess of £26,000) bare metal rotisserie style, full body shell rebuild with virtually every single mechanical and trim part being either rebuilt, reconditioned or replaced with new. The car has been prepared for fast road use, or track use as it has some sensible upgrades, including that all-important twin, racing stripe!
The list of new parts and the work that has been carried out is too extensive to list here, so please feel free to contact me for full details, including photo's, but in brief, well, reasonably brief, here are some of the details.

Mechanical

The car features a reconditioned 2000cc engine with an uprated oil pump, remote oil filter, front mounted oil cooler, fast road camshaft and triple Webber 40 DCOE's on a one off Triumph tune 6 branch inlet manifold and with a 6 branch stainless exhaust manifold leading to a full stainless system. It also has a filter king fuel filter pressure regulator, Facet fuel pump and electronic ignition. The original fan has been replaced with an adjustable kenlowe unit. The engine bay also has the original (new) cardboard splash sides!!
The standard 4-speed overdrive gearbox has been stripped and completely rebuilt, along with the rest of the drive train and rear axle. All UJ's, nuts bolts and suspension are new.
The braking system is all new with solid front discs with Girling type 16 twin pot calipers with Goodrich braided steel flexible lines. The original rear drums have been retained although as you would expect, everything is new.
Suspension wise, it has been fitted with new springs and spax adjustable shocks.
The car is currently on new Minilites with Firestone F590 175/70/13 tyres.

Bodywork

Subject to a rotisserie style rebuild with the entire shell being stripped to bare metal, new steel panels replaced include, both inner and outer rear quarter panels (rear wings), both front wings, inner and outer sills, front and rear valances, floor sections and new steel welded in wherever else it was needed.
Prepared and resprayed in Damson red (purple ...ish), the original colour being that strange '70's yellowy biegey colour saffron! The car now has a new chassis plate with the new colour code stamped on it.

Exterior

The original webasto roof has been replaced with new, so no, it doesn't leak!!! The
Exterior has all new chrome including bumpers, door handles, wipers and assemblies, wing trims, rear window surrounds, front and rear screen chrome fillets, new chrome bonnet catches and the bonnet prop has been chromed too. In fact the only parts that let down this car are the original doorframe surrounds having not being re-chromed to the same standard as the rest.

Interior

The interior is as new having been completely re-trimmed, with new carpets, the front seats being retrimmed in leather complete with headrests, all interior trim is new including the original cardboard style parcel shelf! It has now been fitted with a new 4-point harnesses.

Summary
So what else can I say, its as close to having a new GT6 as you can get with some sensible upgrades, although some people might not like the racing stripes. I had the car MOT'd last year for the owner who intended to use it, but it has done zero miles since then, with the MOT due to expire at the end of October 2010.

Talking of miles, it hasn't done any since being put back on the road last year. The odometer which wasn't reset to zero after the rebuild, shows 14,278, as does the MOT as our testing station is 200 yards up the road, but it has been tuned on a rolling road. It has probably only been driven a total of 6 miles since being rebuilt.

The car comes with a detailed photographic history of the rebuild a BMIHT certified copy of the factory record, the V5 and the owner is a member of the Triumph Sports Six Club.
